Sophomore Connor Nolan makes his first start of 2018-19 as the Chattanooga Mocs open the Spring slate this week at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is getting an early start to the spring schedule opening play Sunday at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. The three-day, 54-hole event ends on Tuesday afternoon.
It's a nice escape for the Mocs. After beautiful weather in the Scenic City to prepare for the event, they head south departing temperatures in the 40s for predicted temps of 78, 79 and 81 over the three competitive days in southeastern Florida.
Sophomore Oliver Simonsen leads the Mocs in the field. He's joined by Connor Nolan, Etienne Brault, Leon Bader and Dominic Jones. Will Porter, Lake Johnson and Moritz Lammel are playing as individuals as eight of the 10-man roster get an opportunity to compete in the 13-team field.
Nolan is making his first start of 2018-19, He had the top finish closing out the fall slate tying for 15th playing as an individual at the Grandover Collegiate turning a 5-over total of 221.
Simonsen and Porter are coming off appearances in the prestigious Jones Cup on Sea Island, Ga. While the duo matched up with a first-rate, international field, four Mocs saw action at the Georgia Southern Individual. Jones led the quartet tying for 20th followed closely by Lammel tying for 22nd. Nolan tied for 33rd with Bader ending up tied for 56th.

- Oliver Simonsen is 17 under for the year. Only two Mocs - Stephan Jaeger '12 and Jonathan Hodge '09 managed par or better for a season. Jaeger was 22 under in 2011-12 and -1 in 2010-11, while Hodge went 9 under in 2007-08.
- Simonsen (70.67) and Will Porter (72.67) currently rank No. 1 and 9, respectively, on the season scoring record list.
- Seven team par or better rounds is already tied for ninth in the record books chasing 2007-08's 18.
