The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team won seven of 11 singles matches on day of the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga.  Freshman Jessie Young took two singles and the lone win in doubles to lead the Mocs. 
 
"The women fought hard today," stated head coach Chad Camper. "We had some ups and downs but look forward to cleaning a few things up tomorrow."
 
Young opened with a three-set win over Mercer's Maeva Roquebert (7-5, 6-7 (2), 1-0 (6).  She also scored a tough, straight-set victory against ETSU's Andrea Pascual-Larringa [6-4, 7-6 (5)].  Young and junior Bogdana Zaporozhets posted the double win over MTSU's Lidia Burrows and Lee Barnard [8-7 (2)].
 
Sophomore Caroline Gibbens and freshman Grace Anne Dunavant won twice in singles.  Freshman Callie Billman picked up the other doubles win.
