CHATTANOOGA---The 2019-20 regular season is rapidly coming to a close. Just three games remain with two thankfully coming in the Roundhouse. The Chattanooga Mocs welcome Mercer this weekend in a battle of two teams scratching and clawing their way to the finish. More on that below.

Both teams are coming off blowout wins Wednesday. The Mocs ran past The Citadel 91-68, while the Bears were rude hosts defeating Samford 106-66. The 23-point win was the largest margin of victory in Charleston for the good guys since a 73-49 win on Jan. 17, 2004. The runaway in Macon was Mercer's biggest in a SoCon game.

Chattanooga won the first meeting 70-61 on a January afternoon at Mercer. David Jean-Baptiste and Matt Ryan scored 17 apiece, as Ramon Vila and Stefan Kenić added 10 points each. Vila commanded the boards with nine as the Mocs allowed the Bears just two offensive rebounds over the course of the game. Djordje Dimitrijevic led all scorers with 22 points for the hosts.

There are huge SoCon Tourney implications on the line. The top 6 teams earn byes into the quarterfinals. Four – Chattanooga, Mercer, Wofford and Western Carolina – are tied for fourth with three of the teams playing this afternoon with the Mocs and Bears in the Roundhouse and Wofford at Furman. If Chattanooga and the Paladins win, it clinches a top six spot and the coveted bye.

It starts Saturday with a visit from the Zooperstars. There's also a chance for a lucky fan to win $2,500 during a media timeout during the men's game. It's also Hamilton County Day so lower-level tickets are just $10 for Hamilton County residents. Buy here online or at the ticket office on game day with a valid ID with Hamilton County area zip code.

The 4:30 p.m., tipoff in the Roundhouse follows the women's foray vs. Samford at 2. The games air on ESPN3 as well over the airwaves locally on WFLI 1070 AM/97.7 FM and the TuneIn app.
