CHATTANOOGA --- Pitchers
Allison Swinford and
Hannah Wood led the Chattanooga Mocs softball team to its first shutout of the 2020 campaign during a 7-0 win over Coppin State before the team suffered a tough 1-0, extra-inning, loss to Campbell in the second half of a Friday twinbill in the Holy City Showdown at Patriots Point Complex in Charleston, S.C.
With the split, Chattanooga moves to 5-8 overall this season. Coppin State opened its season on Friday and fell to 0-1 following the loss while Campbell saw its record improve to an even 8-8.

CHATTANOOGA NOTABLES
· Chattanooga belted out nine hits as a team during the 7-0 victory over Coppin State in game one. It marks back-to-back games with nine hits and the fourth time this season with nine or more in a game.

Allison Swinford (3.2IP) and
Hannah Wood (3.1IP) combined to toss the first shutout of the 2020 season during the win over Coppin State. Swinford allowed a season-low one hit and struck out a season-high six in the relief appearance.

Celie Hudson fired her 50
th career complete game during game two's loss to Campbell. Despite not allowing an earned run, Hudson suffered the loss to move to 3-3 on the year.

Morgan Kazerooni accounted for both of Chattanooga's hits against Campbell. Kazerooni broke up the Camel's no-hit bid in the fifth with a double to center before picking up an infield single in the eighth to finish the game 2-for-3. For the season, Kazerooni is batting .346 (9-for-26) and leads the team with a .615 slugging percentage.
· Chattanooga entered extra innings in a scoreless draw for the first time since 2016 during game two's loss to Campbell.

Chattanooga (5-7) continues play tomorrow in the Holy City Showdown with just one game against tournament-host College of Charleston (3:45 p.m.). UTC and Charleston Southern were originally scheduled to play at 8:15 p.m. but the game has been mutually dropped due to time and weather concerns. The game will not be made up.
