SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Junior pitcher
Allison Swinford was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in this past weekend's Clearwater Tournament, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor is the first of her career and marks the second this season for a UTC pitcher following
Celie Hudson's selection on February 10. It's the sixth pitching honor since the start of the 2019 season for the program.

Swinford was dominant during opening weekend action in Clearwater, going 1-0 with a 0.86 ERA in 16.1 innings of work. She allowed just two earned runs and nine hits (eight singles) while striking out 14 and limiting opposing hitters to a .153 batting average.

In Friday's 3-1 win over Western Michigan, Swinford recorded a complete game victory and allowed only three hits and one run (unearned) while striking out two. In Sunday's action against FAMU, she tossed 5.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief work and struck out a career-high eight in the process.

Over her last 26.0 innings in the circle, Swinford has pitched to a 0.86 ERA and has allowed only three earned runs while striking out 27 and walking only four Hitters are batting a mere .179 over that span with only two extra-base hits (both doubles).
