Lilly Holmes and freshmen
Callie Billman,
Grace Anne Dunavant and
Jessie Young all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. It is the third honor for Van Hee, who carries a 4.0 GPA as a an Economics major. This was also the second for both Zaporozhets and Van Hee.
"We were having an excellent season until it was cancelled (due to COVID-19)," stated UTC women's tennis team coach
Chad Camper. "The team kept going strong in the classroom and adjusted to the shift to online classes. I know the ladies worked hard to achieve their academic goals and I couldn't be more proud of them."
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, individuals must carry a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. UTC bested last year's number of five individuals earning the honor and posted four or more for the fifth year in a row.
In addition to the individual honors, the Mocs also garnered the ITA All-Academic Team Award for the 10th year in a row. The ITA began the team award in 1998 and the Mocs have earned it 15 times since its inception.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
The women's tennis team is coming off a program record 3.65 team GPA in the Spring 2020 semester.
