2) Details
They like to run the ball, we're really good at stopping the run. It's the conference's best rushing attack and fourth in the nation against the league's best defense against the run. The Citadel has eclipsed 300 yards on the ground three times with a season-best 363 in September's win over VMI.

The Bulldogs had 344 last week in the OT win over Wofford. The Mocs have given up just 356 yards over the last four weeks combined (89.0 ypg). For the season, Chattanooga has allowed 1,015 rushing yards which is currently third all-time behind 893 (1982) and 911 (1985). They need to limit the Bulldogs to less than 244 yards to stay in top 5 with 1,098 (1978), 1,165 (1968) and 1,258 (1983) behind by total yards. By yards per game, 243 yards or less keeps the average in the top 3.

3) History
This is the 55th meeting all-time against the Bulldogs. The good guys hold a 33-19-2 lead over The Citadel dating all the way back to 1926.
  • Games: 54 | Record: 33-19-2
  • SoCon Meetings: 42 | 26-15-1
  • In Chattanooga: 19-7-1
  • Streak: +3 | Last 5: 3-2 | 10: 7-3 | 20: 12-8

4) Offensive Line Love
The Chattanooga Mocs offensive line was in the limelight this week. Senior guard Cole Strange was personally extended an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl this week by Executive Director Jim Nagy following Tuesday's practice. It was a whirlwind day for the Knoxville native as he's anchored a superlative front 5 for the Mocs.

How good have they been? The lead the SoCon and rank fifth nationally allowing 0.80 sacks per game. The eight total in 10 contests is the fewest on record in Chattanooga by one. The season record of nine was set in 2005, 2006 and 2009.

The unit paces the league and is 11th in the country in tackles for loss per game (4.00). They power an offense that's best in the conference, fourth nationally, in time of possession (33:29) and top 15 in rushing (203.2).

5) Three Notes to Notice
  • Lead the league in every major defensive category: Scoring (16.4), Total (265.6), Rushing (101.5) & Passing (164.1). Last team to do that? Wofford in 2018. Add in interceptions (15), third-down conversions (28.1%), sacks (3.0) and tackles for loss (7.1) as well for this edition ranking as conference leaders.
  • 164 points allowed for the year are the fewest since 155 in 1985. The last time a Mocs D held opponents to less than 200 points in a season? 180 in 1987.
  • Defense has allowed 2,656 yards through 10 games. Should it hold the Bulldogs to less than 344 yards, it would be the first time since 1985 (2,930) that the defense allowed less than 3k in a season. Best of the last 50 years:
    1) 2,201 in 1982 (200.1 per game)
    2) 2,732 in 1983 (248.4)
    3) 2,773 in 1975 (252.1)
    4) 2,878 in 1978 (261.6)
    5) 2,930 in 1985 (266.4)
