- The Chattanooga Mocs earned a 56-54 victory over A10-power VCU… improves to 4-0… first meeting with the Rams since 1989… Lamont Paris evens his career and UTC head coaching record to 64-64.
- 1,363-1,107 in season No. 103…45th campaign as a DI program with an 817-538 ledger.
- 16 straight non-conference wins…also 15-game home non-conference win streak.
- Tied at 54 with 23 seconds left Malachi Smith dribbled out the clock and hit the game-winning shot with less than a second… first buzzer-beating win since A.J. Caldwell at ETSU last season on February 6, 2021.
- Second straight year with a 4-0 start…last year's 9-0 start marked a program record.
- VCU's 47.8 percent shooting (22-of-46) is a season high by an opponent… VCU entered the game with a 38.0 FG percentage… UTC forced 14 VCU turnovers which marks a season-high… all four wins this year has seen the Mocs turn the ball over fewer times than its opponents.
- The back-and-forth contest featured three lead changes and 10 ties… Chattanooga led the game for 29:08… VCU led for just 2:08… the game was tied for a whopping 8:44.
- UTC out-rebounded VCU by a 30-26 margin including an 11-7 mark on the offensive glass side of things… the two teams tied 28-28 with points in the paint… UTC earned a 9-7 advantage in second-chance points.

- Silvio De Sousa picked up the team's first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 boards… second career double-double… last one came with the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 Conference title game against WVU (3/10/2018).
- David Jean-Baptiste scored 12 points to move his career total to 1,343… 11^th all-time in program history… knocked down a pair of threes… has made a three in his last 29 games which is a Southern Conference best… streak dates back to the 2019-20 season.
