Box Score CULLOWHEE, N.C. ---- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16) match in the finale of a two-match set at Western Carolina inside the Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, N.C.

Following the loss, Chattanooga falls to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in Southern Conference action. Western Carolina improves to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in league matches.

Western Carolina took the opening set by a 25-21 count for consecutive nights. UTC collected more kills (16-15) than WCU in the set, but the home team attacked at a .289% clip while limiting the Mocs to a .190% mark.

The Catamounts jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second set before Chattanooga responded with seven of the next eight points to pull ahead 12-11. After a few back-and-forth rallies, WCU pulled away from a 14-14 tie to win 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead.

WCU kept its momentum in the third set, racing ahead to a 7-2 advantage before stretching it to as much as nine at 22-13. The Catamounts closed things out in the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.

Maia Rackel (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) led the team with eight kills while
MacKenzie Saitta (Elkhorn, Neb.) and
Hayden McGee (Dacula, Ga.) added seven and six, respectively.
Bailey Steger (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) directed the offense with a team-high 17 assists.

Brenna Everingham (Noblesville, Ind.) and
Paige Gallentine (Fenton, Mich.) paced the defensive efforts with nine and eight digs while Rackel added 3.0 total blocks at the net. The Mocs were out-blocked as a team 10.0-6.0 in the defeat.
