The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team has two matches on the schedule for this weekend. UTC hosts Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 27, and Troy on Sunday, Feb. 28.
As the schedule states today, the Mocs take on both the Panthers and Trojans at 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) each day at the UTC Tennis Center. However, there is rain in the forecast and the indoor backup plan is to move to McCallie's Strang-Voges Tennis Center. If action does move indoors, the Georgia State match starts at 4:00 p.m. on four courts on Saturday, while the Troy dual stays at 1:00 p.m.
"The team is looking forward to welcoming a couple of Sun Belt teams to Chattanooga," stated head coach
Chad Camper. "These are high quality programs and each court will be important to be successful. The team has had a great week of practice and rebounded well after last week's lost to MTSU."
Chattanooga is 5-1 overall after that 4-3 setback against the Blue Raiders. Georgia State is 1-5 on the year and travels to the College of Charleston on Friday. Troy brings a 1-3 record and visits North Alabama on Saturday.
UTC is 5-7 all-time against Georgia State, with the Panthers winning each of the last two. The last time they met was a 5-2 loss for the Mocs in Atlanta on March 29, 2005. Chattanooga posted a 5-2 win over the Trojans on Feb. 3, 2019 in Troy, Ala., to improve to 2-1 in the all-time series.
