ATLANTA, Ga. --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team dropped a pair of games at Georgia State, 6-2 and 8-2, on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga.

Following the losses, Chattanooga falls to 4-11 overall and has now dropped its last seven. Georgia State improves to 12-8 after the two victories.

Kailey Snell and
Emily Coltharp led off the top of the first for Chattanooga with a pair of singles, landing runners at first and second with no outs, but were left stranded. Georgia State plated a run in the home half of the first on an RBI single to left from Bailee Richardson to open the scoring.

Coltharp singled with runners on first and second and two outs in the second, but
Adison Keylon was thrown out at the plate to thwart the scoring opportunity. The single would be the last hit for the Mocs until the final inning.

GSU's Skylar Mosel belted a two-run homer down the line in left in the bottom of the third to push the home team's lead to 3-0. The Panthers added three in the bottom of the sixth via a Daisey Hess homerun to left to extend out to a 6-0 lead.

Chattanooga rallied in the top of the seventh with lead off singles from
Liz Rodebaugh and
Gracey Kruse before
Hayleigh Weissenbach laced a one-out triple to the gap in right, scoring two and cutting the deficit to 6-2. UTC couldn't continue its late spark and bowed out after a pair of hard-hit outs to the infield.

Kat Thompson (1-3) suffered the loss in the circle and tossed all 6.0 innings while allowing nine hits, six runs (five earned) and striking out four. Thompson stranded nine GSU runners including escaping a pair of bases-loaded jams.

Chattanooga finished with six hits and featured a pair of multi-hit games from Coltharp (2-for-4) and Weissenbach (2-for-2, 2 RBI). Snell ended 1-for-3 with an infield single to extend her hit streak to eight games.

Emily Coltharp led off the game with a walk and then advanced to second and third on consecutive wild pitches and then scored on a passed ball, all within
Kailey Snell's at-bat. Snell drew a walk and then stole both second and third, scoring on the second attempt on a throwing error and putting the Mocs ahead 2-0 in the game's first three batters.

Georgia State's Daisy Hess responded with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to put the Panthers in the lead 3-2. The Panthers would add a run in each of the second and third innings to extend its lead before a two-run bottom of the sixth pushed things to an 8-2 tally.

Hannah Wood (2-4) took the loss in the circle after throwing 1.0 innings while allowing six hits and four runs (all earned) and striking out one.
Reagan Lowrie tossed 0.2 innings of relief and recorded a strikeout.

Chattanooga finished with just three hits as a team, led by
Kendall Andrews who finished 2-for-3 with a double.
Emily Coltharp added the other hit in a 1-for-2 performance.
