CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's track and field team will close out the regular season this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17.
Â
This will be our last meet before the conference championships at the end of the month. We are fine tuning some kids for the events and looking for the ladies to show continued improvement.Â
Â
Kimbra Dunning will compete in the long jump, the final field event of the day at 5:30 p.m. Running events will include the 100 meter at 6:15 p.m. with Dunning, Imani Bryant and McKenzie Williamson.
Â
The women's 5000 meter will be run in two sections. Allie Potter and Jada Hale will compete in the earlier Section 2 race at 7:00 p.m. while Makenzie Jones, Lesley Green Sophia Neglia and Emma Russum will be in the Section 1 race at 9:00 p.m.
Â
The 1500 meter will run between the two 5K sections. Nicole Buehrle and Ashtyn Hagood hold the Mocs top two times in the Southern Conference in the event with Buehrle ranked 10th. Also in the race will be Faith Brown, Hannah Dearing and Sydney Cansler.
Â
On Saturday Katie Coker and Carley Burt will get the racing started for UTC at 1:45 p.m. with the 400 meter Dash. That will be followed by the 800 meter run. Nicole Buehrle set a PR in the event at the UAB Invitational earlier this season and will compete alongside Emmy Davis.
Â
Bryant and Williamson will close out the event with the 200 meter run set to start at 3:30 p.m.
Â
"Racing at Georgia Tech, we will be facing some great competition," Meyer said. "It presents our kids with the not only the physical struggle to compete, but the mental component to match it.
Â
"For some of the women, this is the last chance they have to post a good time or show us they can compete at the conference meet in a couple weeks. There is a little more pressure to do well at this meet than at some of our previous meets. This will hopefully lead to some fast time and marks."
Â
Live results will be available on the outdoor track schedule page at GoMocs.com.
