ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is back in North Carolina for the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. The 2-day, 54-hole event is hosted by North Carolina State at Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh.
Much like from the first to second event, there is one lineup change moving to the third.
Samuel Espinosa and
Paul Conroy earned qualification through top 10 finishes the last time out, while
John Houk and
Braedon Wear qualified for their third starts as well.
Carson Johnson steps into the rotation after a final round 66, including 31 on the back nine, at Council Fire this week. That propelled him to the top of the leaderboard among the qualifiers and gives him his first shot in the 2022-23 campaign.
The quintet faces a 15-team field at Lonnie Poole headline by host N.C. State. Southern Conference rival UNCG is there as well as in-state foe Lipscomb which is the highest-ranked program in the field at 37 on Golfstat's listing. The Mocs are among top 100 squads in the nation checking in at No. 89.
Saturday's 36-hole extravaganza begins with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. The guys begin on holes 17-1 paired with N.C. State and James Madison. The final 18 concludes the event on Sunday.
