NCAA DIVISION RECORD SET IN SATURDAY'S WIN
Chattanooga put on a record setting three-point shooting display in Saturday's 108-55 win over Covenant. The Mocs featured 10 different players who made atleast one three-point FG during the win, setting a new NCAA Division I record. The previous record of nine was set four different times with the most recent coming in 2018 (Florida). Ironically, Florida also saw nine different players accomplish the feat in 2006 during a win over... Chattanooga.
RECORD PERFORMANCE CONTINUES
Not only did Chattanooga accomplish a new NCAA Division I record, the squad also set a new school record for most three-pointers made in a game. The Mocs knocked down 22 threes on just 40 attempts (55.0%) to fly past the previous school record of 17, which was set a few different times with the last coming in 2020 at Bellarmine.
WHERE THE DEEP BALL RANKS
Chattanooga ranks 4th in all of NCAA Division I basketball with a 12.0 three-pointers per game average while ranking 16th in three-point attempts per game at 29.2. The 41.0% three-point field goal percentage ranks 20th in all of NCAA DI while the 52.0% total field goal shooting percentage sits 15th.
NO SURPRISE THE THREE'S ARE RAINING
New Chattanooga head coach Dan Earl has been known to operate a fast-paced offensive attack as his former VMI squads led the country or ranked second in three-point FG made in each of the last three seasons. The Keydets ranked 19th in NCAA DI in scoring offense in 2021-22 with a 79.0 points per game average.
TRIO OF SIGNEES INK COMMITMENT TO CHATTANOOGA
The Chattanooga program and head coach Dan Earl have announced the signing of three scholastic student-athletes as part of the early signing period in November. The Mocs added long, versatile slash-type players in Sean Cusano (6'8, G/F, Hilton Head, S.C.), Noah Melson (6'6, G, Alexander, Ga.) and Collin Mulholland (6'10, F, Victoria, Minn.). The trio joins current true freshmen Sam Alexis and Brody Robinson as Dan Earl's first five recruits as the bench boss at UTC.
