CHATTANOOGA---It's been a busy week of honors for the Chattanooga Mocs. Six more Mocs put their stamp in the record books earning College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors.

Sophomore guard/center Reid Williams headlined the list. His 3.9508 grade point average in Engineering Management is tops on the team in undergraduate endeavors. He's joined by wide receiver Tyron Arnett, defensive back Reuben Lowery III, placekicker Aaron Sears, defensive back CaMiron Smith and punter Gabe Boring. Smith and Sears are repeat honorees.

The total of six is second to last year's record seven. The Mocs just missed a new record of eight with two special teams performers – Alec Boruff and Evan Brown – deemed not to have been regular contributors by the selection committee. Requirements are a 3.50 GPA, be at least a sophomore in eligibility, play in at least 50 percent of competitions and be a starter or a key contributor.

Arnett and Smith are in post-graduate work. Smith went the post-baccalaureate route while determining his next line of study, while Arnett is focused on medical school when his completes his Master's in Public Health in the spring.

Prior to Coach Rusty Wright's arrival in 2019, there were Mocs earning Academic All-District honors. The last four years saw 16.

"They're here to get degrees first," Wright explained. "It's important. Those guys are good players, good students and that's why they're being recognized. That's what we strive for…to get to a point where all of them are like that, all of them have the opportunity to be those type of guys both in the classroom and on the field."

Chattanooga is one of 40 DI programs in the nation with six or more honored. It was the second highest total in the SoCon behind Wofford (7) and followed by Western Carolina (5), Furman (5), ETSU (3) and Mercer (2).
