CHATTANOOGA - The University of Chattanooga at Tennessee's wrestling team will conclude its regular season competition this weekend at Bellarmine and Indiana. The Blue and Gold will round out Southern Conference action on Friday, Feb. 18 at Bellarmine and follow it up with the team's regular season finale at Indiana on Sunday, Feb. 20.
Chattanooga is 7-10 overall and 5-2 in the Southern Conference this season. The Mocs are coming off of a dominant doubleheader last Sunday where they defeated VMI 47-0 before shutting out Presbyterian 49-0.
Bellarmine is 2-14 this season, 1-6 in SoCon duals and 1-5 at home. The Knights' lone win in SoCon competition was a 19-18 victory over Presbyterian last Friday. Most recently, Bellarmine lost to The Citadel, 38-3.
Indiana is 3-7 this season and 1-3 at home. The Hoosiers home victory came against Maryland, 26-12. In each of its last three duals, Indiana has won just one decision, being outscored 107-9.

Chattanooga is 1-0 vs. Bellarmine. The lone matchup came on Feb. 5, 2021 with the Mocs winning by a 38-3 score.

RECAPPING LAST WEEKEND
CHATTANOOGA---It was an absolutely dominating day for the Chattanooga Mocs. The wrestlers ended the home portion of the schedule with two shutout wins in Maclellan Gym. It started with a 47-0 triumph over VMI before upping the ante with a 49-0 victory against Presbyterian.
How did the day go? In 21 matches, the Mocs had the first takedown. It started with a fall by
Fabian Gutierrez at 125 against the Keydets and ended with one by
Matthias Ervin at 285 versus the Blue Hose. There were eight pins, four tech falls and four major decisions. Ninety-six out of a possible 120 points were claimed.
Brayden Palmer and
Matthias Ervin both posted a pin in each match.
The 49 points against the Blue Hose was the most since 49 against Cumberland on Nov. 14, 2015 with the margin of victory the highest since that match as well. Against DI competition? Most points and largest margin since a 50-0 win over VMI on Feb. 20, 2005. Palmer and Ervin had 12 points apiece, while Waddell (11), Valdes (10) and Heck (10) also registered double figures.
SOCON PRESEASON POLL
Chattanooga was picked to finish third in the Southern Conference race with 50 points. The Mocs went 6-2 in the conference last year, finishing with an 8-4 record overall. Appalachian State received six first-place votes and 61 points to top the 2020-21 preseason poll. Campbell was second with 59 votes. Gardner-Webb (39), The Citadel (38), VMI (27), Davidson (24), Bellarmine (13) and Presbyterian (12) rounded out the listings.
