Women’s Tennis Hosts Montreat in First Outdoor Dual of the Spring

CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team is set for their first outdoor action of the 2022 spring season as they welcome NAIA-power Montreat College (N.C.) to the UTC Tennis Center for a 1:30 p.m. matchup on Thursday afternoon.

Thursday's outdoor match will be dependent on weather. If weather conditions do not allow for outside competition, the match will be canceled as no indoor facilities are available. Stick to GoMocs.com for all information and updates.

Chattanooga (4-4, 0-0 SoCon) is looking to snap a three-match skid after opening the season 4-1 with victories over Jacksonville State, MTSU, Lee and Tennessee Wesleyan to begin the year. The Mocs most recently suffered a 7-0 loss to a strong ACC program in Georgia Tech last Thursday.

Montreat enters the match ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches Top 25 following a 4-0 shutout over then-No. 11 Xavier University of Louisiana. The win marked their third top 12 win of the season after previously defeating No. 12 William Woods and No. 5 Union College a few weeks ago.

Emma Van Hee leads the UTC squad with a 6-2 singles record this spring in dual matches while Caroline Gibbens has posted a 5-3 mark including a 4-3 tally at the No. 2 singles position. In doubles play, Coco Bosman and Van Hee have teamed up for a 5-3 record, all at the No. 2 spot.
