Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach

Overall thoughts after thrilling win.
"Not sure what to say after that one. These are the days where I'm always going to look back and remember why I love doing my job. What an awesome game. Someone had to lose. Unfortunately, that's how it goes. What a good college basketball game. The guys fought."

On the last 20 seconds.
"Every emotion. Every level of everything. Frustration, joy, everything. We missed that and they come down and get a dunk. You go from the penthouse to the outhouse in two seconds. I usually don't call timeout when I think our guys have an advantage. I let them make decisions when I feel like they have an advantage. We had good movement and Malachi was moving downhill with a purpose. What a big time pass from him. Creating and delivering that was such a big time play from Malachi."

On the play from Avery Diggs & Josh Ayeni while Silvio De Sousa is out.
"It's a tremendous asset to have bodies capable and bodies that you trust out there. It's an advantage, especially when guys have different skill sets and are comfortable and confident in what they do. They have a different game and they're comfortable with it. It's a great asset to have those guys."

On the quick turnaround.
"That's the only good thing about this being a long bus ride. I want the guys to enjoy it and talk about the game and who did what. Then you have to get on to the next thing. As important of a game as it was, the next one is just as important. The next one is challenging. You have to have short term memory. This will feel good for the guys tonight."

A.J. Caldwell, R-Jr.-G
On knocking down the game winner.
"Coach said it in the locker room. The easiest thing about that play was making the shot. I shoot that shot all the time. Malachi made a really, really good play that showed how high of a level a player he is. This shot was a little easier than last years but shout out Malachi. What a play that was."

On the team's veteran ship.
"Everyone who played tonight had huge contributions. And Dave, I think the hardest thing to do is step up and knock down three free throws when you're down three, on the road, the place is crazy. I think it shows that we have a veteran team and we're poised in those situations and we can come back. It's huge for us."
