CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team has added another piece to the puzzle after signing JUCO guard/forward Demetrius Davis from Lawson State Community College (AL), head coach
Dan Earl and the program announced Thursday morning.
Davis comes to the Scenic City as a junior and will have two years of remaining eligibility. He is immediately eligible for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
"We are thrilled to have Demetrius joining our Chattanooga team. He is a long, athletic, and skilled basketball player that will bring an all-around game to the Mocs program," said head coach Earl.
"He is extremely versatile and will be able to defend multiple positions. Demetrius is just scratching the service of the player he can be and has a very bright future."
Davis, a 6-9 athlete from Atlanta, ranked second on the team in both scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (5.8 rpg) at Lawson State during the 2021-22 season, helping lead the squad to a 16-12 finish. Davis averaged 22.9 minutes per game in 27 contests and posted a 49.8% field goal percentage on nearly 10 attempts per game.
Of the 27 games played in last season, Davis posted double-digit scoring efforts in 18 including six 20+ performances. He scored a season high 33 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the floor including a 6-of-8 mark from beyond the arc against Wallace State CC on February 2.
In addition to the 33-point scoring outburst, Davis added a 27-point (9-of-16 FG), 10-rebound in a win over Enterprise State CC on November 18, 2021 and a 21-point (9-of-17 FG), 12-rebound game in a win over Southern Union State on January 13. In total, Davis finished the 2021-22 season with three double-doubles and saw 21 games with four or more rebounds.
