Cullowhee, N.C. – The Chattanooga Mocs' softball team dominated the final regular season game of 2022 with a 13-1 win over Western Carolina at the Catamount Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Chattanooga wraps up the regular season with a 25-25 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the Southern Conference. Western Carolina dropped to 18-31 overall and 6-12 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Chattanooga belted four home runs yesterday, it didn't take long for them to get the ball over the fence on Sunday afternoon. Emily Coltharp opened the game with a single up the middle followed by Kailey Snell reaching on an error. In the next at bat, Reagan Armour took an 0-2 pitch over the wall in center to put the Mocs up 3-0. On the very next pitch Acelynn Sellers went yard, putting the Mocs up 4-0 before an out was recorded in the first.

Sellers wasn't the end of the home run party. Two batters later, Kaili Phillips struck a line drive over the center field fence, putting UTC up 5-0.

The Mocs took a 5-0 lead into the second and it didn't just stay at five. After blasting two home runs herself yesterday, Adison Keylon sent one over the fence to add to the Chattanooga lead. The Mocs took a 7-0 lead into the bottom half after a Phillips bases-loaded walk.

Western Carolina got its first hit and run with a solo homer in the bottom of the second. In the next half inning, Armour got the run back with an RBI single to center. The Mocs struck for four more in the fourth with RBIs from Keylon, Armour and Sellers. After a three up, three down bottom half, UTC held a 12-1 lead into the fifth.

Phillips added another run to the column with her second blast of the day. She took a 3-1 pitch over the wall for her second multi-home run game of the season.

Brooke Parrott retired the final 10 batters she faced to secure the 13-1 win. Parrott allowed just one baserunner, the second-inning home run. She struck out five in her seventh complete game of the season.

Armour led the Mocs with a 4-for-4 day. Five other Mocs registered multiple hits in the contest: Coltharp, Snell, Sellers, Phillips and Keylon.
