CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs had a strong 2021-22 in competition. Through the work of the Mocs Club staff and the generosity of the community and alumni throughout the country, it was a championship year outside it as well.

Just a few of the successes:

Mocs Club 1500 Campaign
The Mocs Club increased its membership more than 220 percent during the 2021 calendar year. The goal was to reach 1,500 members and it was topped by 17 during the campaign.

The impact of those dollars was a nearly 40 percent increase. The original goal of $575,000 was smashed by securing $714,627 for the organization. It also went directly into the student-athlete experience aiding efforts in academic support as well as performance including nutrition.

The campaign is the most philanthropic on record for the athletics annual fund. For more information on joining the Mocs Club and its benefits, call (423) 425-4233 or click here.

Overall Donors Increased
The overall number of donors grew to almost 2,000 in total. It was an increase of nearly 20 percent over 2020-21. The generosity of that community leads to the next note…

Total Dollars
The total gifts and pledges over the 2021-22 fiscal year totaled more than $3.2 million dollars. That led to enhancements all across the board benefiting student-athletes in each of the 16 athletic programs. That includes the major renovations to the Lawson Student-Athlete Success Center, the ground-breaking for the Wolford Center and endowments among other areas. It also featured 100 percent commitment from the athletics staff that all contributed from their own pockets in large part through membership in the Mocs Club.

"It was a great year fundraising-wise," Vice-Chancellor Mark Wharton explained. "Especially in such challenging times as these financially. We are very appreciative of the support and generous Mocs spirit. This is just the start. We need to continue to build and nurture these efforts to meet the demands ahead."

The jewel of the year was the groundbreaking mentioned above for the Wolford Center addition to McKenzie Arena. It will have a major impact on all programs with a focus on bringing football facilities to the forefront of the FCS and challenge "Group of 5" for the overall benefit to the student-athlete experience.

The sports medicine addition arguably puts all Mocs athletics programs on even standing with most any school in the country with state-of-the-art facilities eying the prevention, treatment and rehab of injuries. The addition also provides new and enhanced locker room space for men's and women's basketball.
