Elaine Redman Claims SoCon Setter of the Week Honor for the Fourth Time this Season

A dominant 83-assist weekend by Redman helped secure the Chattanooga native her fourth SoCon POTW honor of her season and of her career on Monday.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Elaine Redman of the Chattanooga volleyball team brought home her fourth Southern Conference Player of the Week honor, as the junior was named SoCon Setter of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.

After entering the season without a single Southern Conference POTW award to her name, the Chattanooga native has come to life in her junior season by collecting a conference-leading four Setter of the Week accolades. The last award for Redman came on October 2 while her other two came September 18 and August 28.

The numbers that Redman has put up over the course of the 2023 season have truly been something to marvel, as the junior's 965 assists currently rank tenth in the entire NCAA in the category. Not only that, but Redman has also been a double-double machine for the Mocs down the stretch of conference play as she sits at a team-high 14 this year, which is more double-doubles than she's had in the rest of her career combined (12).

Redman finished her weekend with 83 total assists between UTC's two home matches against UNCG and ETSU, averaging 41.5 for the week. She opened her weekend up by having a 30-assist, five-dig, two-kill performance against UNCG, notching an additional block in the 3-0 sweep of the Spartans. She then went on to drop 53 assists, one shy of her season-high of 54, against ETSU. Redman would also finish the match against the Buccaneers with a double-double, recording 10 digs, two blocks, two kills and an ace.

This season, Redman has averaged a double-double for the Mocs averaging 35.74 assists per match alongside 10.19 digs per match. Redman also sits right on the fringe of UTC's Top 10 career leaderboard with her 1,653 assists with the Mocs ranking 12th in program history. Redman has a career total of 2,710 assists between her two years at Chattanooga and one year at Toledo in 2021.

Redman is accompanied by The Citadel's Ali Ruffin and Western Carolina's Eden Punch, who came away with Southern Conference Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
