CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs outfielder Olivia Lipari was named the 2023-24 Vice Chair for the Southern Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
 
"The role of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to unite the individual university SAACs together so that we can make the SoCon better for everybody," Lipari said. "It is really important to me to make my fellow student-athletes' voices heard. I play a big role in that now."
 
Lipari, a junior from Oviedo, Fla., was a second-team all-conference player and member of the SoCon All-Tournament Team last season. She started all 52 games in 2023, had a .287 batting average and drove in 23 runs. On defense, she had 83 putouts, 23 assists and just two errors. Lipari was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team in 2023.
 
"Olivia exemplifies what we refer to as a student-athlete," Coach Frank Reed said. "It's exciting to see them come in and grow as young ladies and athletes and be able to give back to not only their team, but also other athletes in the conference."
 
The SoCon SAAC is dedicated to promoting the well-being of student-athletes, encouraging academic success and facilitating a positive student-athlete experience. This committee consists of student-athletes from SoCon member institutions, and they collaborate on various initiatives to enhance the overall collegiate athletics experience.
 
Dominic Ganley, a redshirt junior on Samford's baseball team, was appointed as the Chair of the 2023-24 SoCon SAAC. 
 
"We are thrilled to have Dominic Ganley and Olivia Lipari leading the SoCon SAAC for the 2023-24 academic year," said SoCon Senior Associate Commisioner Terri Brne. "Their passion, leadership and dedication to their respective sports and academics make them ideal choices to guide the SAAC's efforts in supporting our student-athletes."
