CHATTANOOGA (Nov. 18, 2023) --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team aims for its fourth-straight win to open the season with a Sunday afternoon matchup against in-state foe Tennessee Tech in non-conference action inside McKenzie Arena. Tip-off is set for 2:02 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Chattanooga (3-0) is coming off a thrilling 72-64 comeback win over Bellarmine at home on Tuesday night. The Mocs rallied from a 64-59 deficit with 3:53 left in the game, ultimately ending the contest on a 13-0 scoring run that featured seven-straight defensive stops down the stretch.
Honor Huff led all UTC scorers with 16 while
Myles Che added 14 points and four assists and
Sam Alexis chipped in with 14 points and nine boards.
Tennessee Tech (1-3) comes to the Roundhouse off the heels of its first win of the season, downing NAIA-member Midway 82-70 on Thursday night in Cookeville. TTU faced stiff competition in its first three games and dropped road contests at No. 9 Tennessee (L, 42-80) and Murray State (L, 72-78), and a home battle to Lipscomb (L, 65-96) during the stretch.

Big man
Sam Alexis continues to dominate the paint in the early going of 2023-24. He finished Tuesday with 14 points on 6-of-9 FG while adding in nine rebounds.
Alexis is one of two players (Isaiah Cozart, EKU) in NCAA DI currently averaging at least 13.0p, 11.0r and 3.0 blocks per game.
KENTUCKY MOCS
Chattanooga has earned back-to-back wins over programs from Louisville, Ky. (@Louisville, Bellarmine). The
Mocs can continue the Kentucky flare on Sunday as Tennessee Tech's bench boss John Pelphrey is a University of Kentucky Hall of Famer ('05) after totaling 1,257 points, 469 rebounds and 327 career assists in 114 career games for UK from 1988-92. His jersey (#34) was retired in 1992.

The 2023-24 version of Chattanooga men's basketball is poised to showcase a high-flying, fast-paced, and free-shooting product that collectively competes under a team slogan of "See, Share, Shoot" implemented by the coaching staff.
NEWCOMERS SET THE TONE FOR 2023-24
Many new faces will be in play for Chattanooga this season. 10 total newcomers from the transfer portal, high school signings and walk-ons, will go along with just three returning letter winners to form a fresh roster for coach Earl. Forwards
Demetrius Davis,
Sam Alexis and
Randy Brady are the only returning Mocs who saw action last season, with Davis being the only starter.
