CHATTANOOGA (Nov. 28, 2023) --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team will suit up for its first road game in a 19-day span with an early Wednesday clash against in-state foe Lipscomb inside Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
 
Chattanooga (5-1) enters the matchup coming off Sunday's 72-56 wire-to-wire victory over SEMO during the final day of the Coke Zero Sugar Classic held inside McKenzie Arena. The Mocs bounced back from its first loss of the season on Friday to Evansville in overtime, a game in which UTC saw a second-half, 20-point lead evaporated down the stretch.
 
The sophomore duo of Sam Alexis and Honor Huff continue to pace the Chattanooga offense in the early going of the season with the latter leading the team with a 16.8 points per game average and the former totaling a team second-best 14.8 average. Alexis is also averaging a SoCon-best 12.0 rebounds and is currently the only player in NCAA DI basketball averaging at least 14.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting better than 67.0% (67.9%) from the field.
 
Lipscomb (5-3) heads into the midweek match-up winners of five of its last six with three of the five wins coming away from its home arena. The Bisons most recently defeated SoCon-member Wofford 85-78 on Sunday in Montreal, Quebec as part of the North Classic MTE event and finished the weekend with a 2-1 record, picking up an additional win over UNC Asheville (86-75) and dropping a contest to Bowling Green (82-61).

CHATTANOOGA AND LIPSCOMB RECENT HISTORY
Lipscomb currently holds the edge in the all-time series history with an 18-12 edge in the previous 30 meetings between the two programs. The Bisons captured a 72-66 victory inside McKenzie Arena last season on 11/23/22. Chattanooga carried a six-game win streak into last November's meeting before seeing it snapped. UTC has won three-straight in Nashville.

MOCS REBOUND WITH 72-56 WIN OVER SEMO
- Chattanooga (5-1) rebounded from its first defeat of the season with a dominating defensive effort, earning a wire-to-wire 72-56 victory over SEMO on the final day of the Coke Zero Sugar Classic Sunday afternoon inside McKenzie Arena. The Mocs limited SEMO to a 19-of-58 (32.8%) shooting mark from the field, which marked the lowest percentage allowed to a DI non-conference opponent since 11/14/2021 (UNCA).
 
SAM THE MAN ALEXIS
- After going for 22 points on 9-of-13 FG & 15 rebounds last Sunday against TTU (11/19), Sam Alexis totaled 10 points & 15 rebounds during Friday's contest against Evansville to become the first Moc since 2008 (Nicchaeus Doaks) to record consecutive 15-rebound performances. He finished with 18 points & nine rebounds on Sunday. He's currently the only player in NCAA DI basketball averaging at least 14.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game on 67%+ FG%.
 
RARE LACK OF THREE-POINT ATTEMPTS
- In Sunday's 72-56 win over SEMO, Chattanooga finished just 6-of-16 (37.5%) from 3PT land. The six made 3PT FG's ties the lowest in a game for UTC since the start of '22-23 while the 16 attempts ties the fewest for a Dan Earl-led team since VMI attempted 16 at George Mason on 12/12/20. The last time an Earl-led squad attempted 15 or fewer was VMI at UNCG on 2/1/2018 (15).
 
CLEANING THE GLASS
- The Mocs currently rank 18th in NCAA DI basketball with a +10.8 rebounding margin while ranking 10th in defensive rebounds per game, averaging 31.5 defensive boards this season. Chattanooga is 16-7 under coach Earl when outrebounding its opponent and 6-11 when even or record fewer.
