LEXINGTON, Va. --- Chattanooga's Lesley Green earned all-conference on Day One of the Southern Conference Indoor Championships and the Mocs got scoring from the Distance Medley Relay team.
 
Green ran a personal record 9:36.79 in the 3,000 meter going out with the lead group in the faster heat.
 
"She stayed on the back for the first half of the race," head coach Andy Meyer said. "When a hard move was made, only Lesley and two others able to answer. With 600 to go, Lesley accelerated and got a gap, but ETSU and Furman answered."
 
Not known as a kicker, was able to catch up to the runner from Furman for third and was mere seconds off Shannon Wommack's school record of 9:31.75 set in 2006.
 
Emma Russum was 11^th in the 3K and Camden Morris placed 16^th running in the second heat besting her PR time by more than 10 seconds.
 
"I don't believe I've been prouder of the heart the 3000 meter runners exhibited," Meyer said. "Emma had a little difficulty to overcome but gave a great effort. Camden ran a very paced race resulting in a huge PR."
 
Faith Brown led off the Mocs in the Distance Medley Relay in the 1200 meter leg. Sarah Unterholzner followed in the 100 meter. Delaney Mulich covered the 800 meter leg and Maddie Wheatcroft ran the 1600 meter anchor leg and moved the Mocs up in the pack. The team placed sixth, earning three points for the Mocs.
 
Wheatcroft led a trio of qualifiers in the Mile. She finished third overall with a time of 5:04.66 for the automatic qualification. She will be joined in the finals Sunday by Brown (5:11.45) and Leah Boyd (5:12.44).
 
"We had a good first day," Meyer said. "Overall, all the kids gave sensational efforts. We have some more racing tomorrow. Hopefully we can match our success from today."
