PREVIEW: Wrestling Travels with 1st-Place on the Line

Jake Boyd

Jake Boyd and the Chattanooga Mocs take on 19th-ranked Appalachian State Sunday in Boone with Southern Conference leadership in the balance.

NOTES | STATS

CHATTANOOGA---Sunday is coming fast. The Chattanooga Mocs, Appalachian State and Campbell and all tied at 4-0 atop the Southern Conference standings. The Mocs and 19th-ranked Mountaineers square off to break part of that stalemate with the Camels visiting both over the following two Sundays.

But this is about this Sunday. Coach Kyle Ruschell didn't shirk. He quickly pointed out how big a match faces his squad along with the tough environment that awaits in Boone.

"It's a big deal, and I know some coaches shy away from that," Ruschell started. But I let these guys know you have to be ready to go, and all your matches but are really important.

"So don't shy away from it. The excitement needs to be there but not to the point where it freezes you up. It's an excitement because you get to wrestle in front of a crowd in a hostile territory. Those things are fun."

The 3 p.m., matinee broadcasts on Rockfin with Track live scoring.

QUOTABLE
" You don't get those types of moments often in life, so enjoy it. Go out there, put on a show and have fun. If we wrestle like we did last weekend, we'll be right there." – Kyle Ruschell on wrestling in a hostile environment

"All these matches are going to be super tight. Like last year, there were five matches within two points. We won two, they won three of them, and so we gotta figure out how to switch that." – Ruschell on how tight this match is historically
