FT. MYERS, Fla. --- The Chattanooga softball team fell 5-4 Thursday night at Florida Gulf Coast in non-conference action. The loss snaps the Mocs five-game win streak and moves their overall mark to 14-8.
 
Chattanooga got on the board first with a run in the top of the sixth. Kaili Phillips singled to start the inning and Jayce Purdy moved her over to second on a sac bunt. Kailey Snell singled to put runners at first and third. With two on and one out, Snell was thrown out trying to steal second. However, her attempt allowed Phillips to score from third.
 
The Mocs added a run in the third to go up 2-0. Hannah Pfeifer walked and Lipari singled, putting runners on with one out. Acelynn Sellers bunted the batters over on a sacrifice and Phillips walked to load the bases. Purdy drew a walk to score Pfiefer, but FGCU would get out of the inning, keeping UTC to just one run.
 
The Eagles put runs on the board in the third and fourth, tying the game 2-2.
 
In the fifth inning, Phillips put the Mocs up with a two-run shot to left field. With Pfeifer on first and two outs, Phillips hit for distance and Chattanooga retook the lead, 4-2
 
FGCU tied the game in the seventh with an RBI triple then got the win on a sacrifice fly to right field.
 
Brooke Parrott who came on in relief in the fourth got the loss. She recorded two of the Mocs three strikeouts in the game and walked one.
 
Olivia Lipari, Snell and Phillips each had two hits. Phillips was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI and a home run. Chattanooga had seven hits, drew three walks and struck out twice.
