FT. MYERS, Fla. --- The Chattanooga softball Mocs made a late inning comeback in game two Friday at Florida Gulf Coast but fell 4-3 in the nightcap after dropping a 6-0 decision to start the day. The Mocs are 14-10 on the year.
Kaili Phillips had a two-run homer in the top of the seventh in game two to tie it up and
Kailey Snell went 3-for-7 (.429) over two games.
Riley Kokinda was 2-for-3 in the second game today and drove in a run.
Peja Goold started the second game, pitching all seven innings and pitched one in relief in the first. She had seven strikeouts Friday with five in game two.
FGCU 6, CHATTANOOGA 0
FGCU put two runs on the board in the third with a double down the right field line, driving in both runners. Two more runs scored on a pair of singles in the fourth. The Eagles added another two more with one in the fifth and the other in the sixth.
Chattanooga's
Olivia Lipari reached on an error in the first inning and stole second with two outs, but the Mocs were unable to get her home.
Hannah Pfeifer led off with a bunt single in the fourth and Lipari singled to put two runners on with no outs. A fly ball from Sellers moved Pfeifer to third. Pfeifer was out on the next at bat and a double play ended the Mocs scoring threat.
Lipari reached base three times in the game, but the stout FGCU defense held off the Mocs.
Pfeifer, Lipari and Snell each had a hit in the game and Lipari had a stolen base for UTC.
Taylor Long struck out three through three innings.
Peja Goold had two strikeouts in her one inning of work and
Brooke Parrott pitched the final two innings.

The Eagles got the scoring started with three runs on a sac fly, error and single through the first three innings.
Kailey Snell singled with one out and stole second to move into scoring position.
Riley Kokinda launched a double into left center to score Snell for Chattanooga first run of the game to make it 3-1.
With two outs,
Olivia Lipari drew a walk in the top of the seventh.
Kaili Phillips cranked a home run over the fence to tie the game at 3-3.
For the second time in three games, FGCU walked off with the win, but not without a fight. Goold struck out the lead off batter but the next three reached to load the bases. The Mocs got the lead runner out at the plate to keep the game tied and put two outs on the board. However, a single down the left side on the next at bat, drove in the game winner for the Eagles.
