CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs beach volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches against Austin Peay and Jacksonville State on the opening day of the Govs Beach Bash in Clarksville, Tenn., on Friday afternoon.
 
Chattanooga dropped the opening contest against Austin Peay by a 5-0 count before turning around for a 5-0 win over Jacksonville State. Following the split, UTC moves to 13-11 overall this season.
 
In the 5-0 sweep over JSU, the Mocs saw victories at all five positions with just one match needing a third set to finalize results. One of the top duos in the OVC preseason rankings, Neva Clark and Joy Courtright posted a 21-18, 21-17 win at No. 1 to help lead the team in the nightcap.
 
Chattanooga returns to action tomorrow to conclude the Govs Beach Bash with a rematch against both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State. Full results will be posted to GoMocs.com following conclusion of play.
