Garrett Engle’s impressive March work for the Chattanooga Mocs earned his first SoCon Golfer of the Month award.

SPARTANBURG, S.C.---Chattanooga Mocs sophomore Garrett Engle was named Southern Conference Golfer of the Month Friday afternoon. It's his first such honor as well as the initial one for the program in 2022-23. His two top 10s made it an easy decision.
 
Engle was 10 under over six March cards averaging 70.33 strokes per round. He started by tying for 10th at Auburn's Tiger Invitational and followed tying for fourth against a power-packed Linger Longer Invitational field. That led to a .925 winning percentage beating 164 of the 179 golfers her encountered.
 
The impressive Linger Longer work led to the SoCon Golfer of the Week award for March 22. He tied for fourth with national No. 1 Gordon Sargent while beating 14 of 17 ranked players including 2-0-1 against the top 10. He beat all 19 other Southern Conference golfers in the field by an average of 22.63 strokes.
 
The Mocs open play at 9 a.m., Saturday morning playing with host Indiana and Illinois State. The 14-team field plays 36 holes on day and a final 18 Sunday. A complete preview is linked above.
