CHATTANOOGA---Another Southern Conference game week is upon the Chattanooga Mocs. This one sees the squad suit up against defending champ and 17th-ranked Samford Saturday in Birmingham.
 
It's an interesting battle ahead with both squads playing their second SoCon matchup of the campaign. The Mocs are tied for first with Western Carolina at 1-0, while the Bulldogs are kenneled in eighth with another set of Bulldogs (The Citadel) at 0-1. In between is a mess of 0-0 squads.
 
This week's schedule has three league matchups on the docket:
Chattanooga at Samford, 3 p.m.
Mercer at Furman, 1 p.m.
Wofford at VMI, 1:30 p.m.
Charleston Southern at Western Carolina, 2:30 p.m.
The Citadel at S.C. State, 6 p.m.
 
Coach Rusty Wright opened the discussion with a wrap-up of The Citadel week and look ahead to Samford. He was followed by wide receiver Sam Phillips, who had 11 catches for 163 yards in last year's meeting, and linebacker Alex Mitchell.
