CHATTANOOGA---Game Week 5 is upon us. Week 3 of eight straight in Southern Conference play. The 22nd-ranked Chattanooga Mocs have their eyes firmly set towards Saturday's opponent, the Wofford Terriers, while we take one last peek back at last week.
Â
Sophomore linebacker
Alex Mitchell earned another plaudit for his play in the 47-24 win at Samford. His 38-yard pick 6 on the Bulldogs first snap put the Mocs up by two scores en route to a 34-10 lead late in the first half. He made five tackles on the day as both the offense and defense sparked the near doubling up of the defending SoCon Champs.
Â
Now we're back to
this Saturday. The first-place Mocs travel to Spartanburg for a matchup with the Terriers. Wofford enters at 0-4 but took a loss ACC member Pitt to open the season and then had a hard-fought loss to nationally-ranked William & Mary. The last two weekends saw game go down-to-the-wire in losses to Presbyterian (20-23) and at VMI (14-17).
Â
Chattanooga looks to continue its offensive onslaught in SoCon play out-scoring the opposition 95-27. The 95 points in the first two SoCon games are the most since 99 in wins at Marshall (27-23) and Appalachian State (72-14) in 1978. The offense scored on 14 of the last 18 complete drives with 10 touchdowns and four field goals.
