STATS | MATCH NOTES

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs wrestling squad returns to center stage at Maclellan Gym Sunday hosting Davidson. It's Match No. 10 overall and the second of eight Southern Conference matchups.

The Mocs enter at 7-2, the best start since that same mark to open the 2015-16 campaign. That year, the squad shared the SoCon regular season title while this year's crew looks to stay undefeated in league matches coming off last Sunday's 31-13 triumph at VMI.

"I'd like to see more of what we did against Duke and not what we did against VMI," Coach Kyle Ruschell explained. "I think we went in ready to wrestle against Duke and then let the gas off a bit at VMI. We almost got beat two years ago at Davidson in a similar situation. We didn't go out there, ready to ready to wrestle, and they were on us.

"I think this last weekend was such a good learning experience for a couple of the guys that we're never safe. We have to go out there expecting a fight, get into our offense and do the things that we've been doing all year and try to take these guys out of the match early."

Four Mocs are currently ranked in one of the main NCAA services with 141 Isaiah Powe coming in at No. 33 per WrestleStat. The National Wrestling Coaches Association's first ranking came out this week featuring Brayden Palmer (125) and Noah Castillo (149) at No. 23 and Blake Boarman (133) at 26th in their classes.

The dual Sunday is Military Appreciation/Hometown Heroes Day. All active and veteran military members earn a free GA ticket to the match as well as first responders and local doctors and nurses.
