SALEM, Va.---The Chattanooga Mocs wrestling squad opened the 2024-25 season with a 37-6 loss against Virginia Tech in the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College. The two teams met on the Cregger mats ahead of Saturday's Southeast Open hosted in the same venue.
Â
The Mocs claimed two wins on the evening getting decisions at 149 by
Dayne Dalrymple and 174 from
Sergio Desiante. The task was made more difficult giving up 13 bonus points via three falls and two tech falls to the Hokies.
Â
"We need to go out there with confidence against teams like Virginia Tech," Coach
Kyle Ruschell explained after the match. "We increased the strength of our schedule for a reason. It's not going to get easier, so we need to go out there and believe in our training and let it show."
Next up as mentioned above is the Southeast Open. All but three on the Mocs roster are expected to compete in the annual event.
