POSTGAME QUOTES
Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening thoughts after the 75-67 win at Evansville.
"They are hard to come by [road wins]. Evansville, you know, like I said before the game, they probably want to have won a couple more games, but they are a good team and certainly playing on the road against a Missouri Valley team isn't easy. There were some late game things that we certainly have to clean up. My blood pressure was going through the roof on some defensive stuff. But on the whole, a lot of guys positively impacted the game, and we got some really good minutes from some guys."
Â
On team's response after Evansville claimed brief second-half lead.
"Yeah, I thought we showed a lot of resiliency there. As you mentioned, we had a sizable lead or decent lead, and then, they took the lead in the second half. Sometimes we try to hit the home run rather than staying with a single, single, single. I thought we did a really good job, maybe the best of the season, in that regard."
Â
On play of Frank Champion in second game.
"I still think he's got a chance of being even better, if you will. Now, he made some really nice drives and plays, but you can see he's still, which is absolutely to be expected, wants to be playing even better, more confident and just move better, He's still getting in shape, so it'll be a process, but I'm really proud of him because for the most part, he let the game come to him and he took advantage of some drives and moves when he could, he didn't try to force anything, and he was really effective."
Â
Frank Champion, F-Sr.
On tonight's win.
"It's always tough on the road and it was one that we really needed, and I think it was big for us, you know, putting us in the right direction before we get ready to take these next steps towards conference play."
Â
On skillset.
"I mean, today, I think I showed my inside presence. That's one of the things that I kind of cater to my game. I want to use my size and versatility, and once I start getting that feeling back too, getting that moving that I want, I think I can bring a push to the pace in transition. We have shooters around us, so being able to spread it is also big."
