RECAP: Wrestlers Battle in Ranked Loss at Little Rock

Blake Boarman

Blake Boarman’s top 5 win led the Chattanooga Mocs Monday night in Little Rock.

RESULTS

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs started the final road trip of 2024 with a 32-7 loss at No. 20 Little Rock Monday night. The Mocs captured ranked wins at 133 and 174 along the way.

It was a dominant win at 133 for No. 28 Blake Boarman over third-ranked Nasir Bailey. Boarman took control of the match late in the second period and did not let off the gas throughout the third completely neutralizing the Trojans' 2024 All-American.

The two squads traded major decisions through the first three matches. Dayne Dalrymple (149) and Cavarius Liddie (157) both had their chances in ranked losses with decisions before a fall at 165 gave the Trojans a commanding 20-4 advantage.

No. 33 Sergio Desiante got the Mocs on the scoreboard again with a thrilling 6-3 decision in extra time. His takedown, which he nearly finished in regulation, early in the first extra period earned the sudden victory.

Kamdyn Munro followed with a hard-fought narrow loss by decision to No. 10 Brock DelSignore. The final tally of 10-6 came on a last-second takedown. The Trojans captured the final two matches for the team win.

"That was a good team with a lot of ranked guys, and we went after it," Coach Kyle Ruschell responded. "We got beat but that dual was closer than the final score. We wrestled hard tonight. Most of our guys put themselves in the position to win their match.

"Blake Boarman just showed what we all see in the practice room. He is very capable, but we need to have that every week. Sergio Desiante went after him got to his legs, and throughout the whole match, gave himself opportunities. Ultimately, he won in a position that's not where he wants to be but found a way.

"We can work with this effort from our guys."
