RECAP: Wrestlers Go 2-1 at Norman Duals

Dayne Dalrymple

Dayne Dalrymple helped lead a strong Chattanooga Mocs effort at the Norman Duals.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs squared off three times Saturday in the Norman Duals. The Mocs, 1-6 on the year, captured two of the three bouts with wins over CSU Bakersfield and Southeast Community College prior to a hard-fought 26-14 loss to No. 21 Oklahoma.

The Mocs claimed 18 wins with bonus points in 15 of them. While the day ended with a loss, it was another competitive effort against a ranked opponent.

"We are competing as a team," Coach Kyle Ruschell said. "That is what I am most proud of. These guys came out with fire, and we were the loudest team in the gym. We are feeding off each other and it's fun to be around.

"Our staff has really pushed our guys this first semester, and they are getting better because of it. I like how we have closed out the first semester, and I'm encouraged heading into the New Year."

The Roadrunners got three points at 165 before the Mocs closed the ledger. Sergio Desiante's tech fall at 174 clinched a tie at the minimum. Kamdyn Munro put the exclamation on the day's start with a fall to clinch the victory.
