CHATTANOOGA (Feb. 17, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team looks to continue its Southern Conference road magic when it travels to Furman for a nationally televised Sunday afternoon showdown inside Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. Tip-off is set for 2:05 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Chattanooga (18-8, 10-3 SoCon) currently sits in sole possession of second place in the league standings after picking up its eighth win in its last nine games with an 84-71 home victory over rival ETSU on Wednesday. The Mocs are in search of a program record seventh-straight SoCon road victory on Sunday with the current six-game streak being just the fourth-ever occurrence and first since 1992-93.
Furman (14-12, 8-5 SoCon) currently sits in the middle of the standings but are winners of its last two following a road win at ETSU (W, 65-63) and a home win over VMI (W, 75-62). The Paladins have battled through injuries this season and have featured 14 different starting lineup combinations which puts the squad as one of just seven in NCAA DI to total 14 or more.

MOCS ROUT RIVAL BUCS 84-71 IN 100TH MEETING
- Chattanooga (18-8, 10-3 SoCon) used a career-high 31 points from
Honor Huff to help capture a dominating 84-71 victory over in-state rival ETSU on Wednesday night in McKenzie Arena during the 100th all-time meeting in the rivalry series. Huff knocked down nine 3PT FGs, tying a school record, on the way to his career-best scoring night. The Mocs finished 16-35 (45.7%) from deep & totaled 21 assists on 28 FGs.
CHATTANOOGA/FURMAN HISTORY
- Chattanooga & Furman will meet for the 99th time in the all-time series & for the 85th time in regular season Southern Conference play. UTC holds a 58-40 record in the previous 98 meetings including a 51-33 mark in regular season contests. The Mocs earned a convincing 73-58 victory over the Paladins in the first meeting this season in McKenzie Arena on January 6.
ROAD WARRIORS LOOK TO CONTINUE STREAK, SET PROGRAM RECORD
- UTC's 89-61 victory at UNCG last Saturday marked its sixth-straight SoCon road victory with wins at Mercer (1/17), at ETSU (1/21), at Wofford (1/24), at WCU (1/31) & at VMI (2/8). The six-straight league W's on the road ties the longest such streak in program history. W4 (8x): 23-24, 20-21, 15-16, 13-14, 03-04, 96-97, 85-96,81-82. W5 (3x): 23-24, 84-85, 82-83. W6 (4x): 23-24, 92-93, 91-92, 86-87.
HUFF'S CAREER NIGHT LEADS TO WIN OVER BUCS

Honor Huff had a career performance during Wednesday's 84-71 win over ETSU in the 100th all-time meeting in the rivalry series. Huff scored a career-best 31 points on 10-17 shooting which included a program record-tying nine three-pointers (9-16) with six coming in the first half alone. Nationally in DI hoops, Huff ranks seventh in total 3PT FGM (85) and 10th in 3PT FGM per game (3.27). Both totals top the SoCon leaders.
OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY KEY TO WINNING WAYS
- Chattanooga enters the weekend ranked 10th in NCAA DI basketball in Effective FG% (57.0%) following a string of impressive shooting performances. UTC has shot 52.0%+ in six of its last eight games with three above 59.0% including last Saturday's 59.3% (32-54) effort at UNCG. The Mocs 1.483 points-per-possession tally at UNCG marked the program's best against DI opponent since the KenPom era began in 1999.
BACKCOURT DUO OF BONHAM & HUFF AMONG THE BEST
- The backcourt duo of
Trey Bonham and
Honor Huff have fueled the Chattanooga offense this season. Over the last two games (W @UNCG, W vs. ETSU), Bonham & Huff have combined for 95 points (54.9% of team scoring), 20 made 3PT FGs (52.6%, 20-38), 56.4% FG% (31-55), 17 assists, 14 rebounds & eight steals during the past two games. Bonham tied a career-high at UNCG with 31 points before Huff also posted a 31-point performance against ETSU, marking his career best, on the help of a school record-tying nine 3PT FG's.
