CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team will look to extend its win streak with a midweek game Wednesday night at Jacksonville State.
 
The Mocs went 5-0 in the Chattanooga Challenge, moving above .500 to start the season. UTC beat Ball State twice in the five-game run while taking down Western Kentucky, Murray State and North Alabama.
 
Olivia Lipari was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week for her performance. She hit .636 for the week with two home runs, a double, six RBI and six runs scored including the game winner in extra innings against Ball State on Saturday. Her three-run shot on Friday broke up a 7-7 tie against the Cardinals and she had a two-run blast against Murray State for a 3-0 lead in an eventual 3-2 win for the Mocs.
 
Kendall Forsythe leads the Mocs in batting average, hitting .421 in seven games played with six starts. She has eight hits and six RBI. Acelynn Sellers started all 10 games at first and is hitting .417. Lipari is batting .370 for the season with a team-best three home runs and eight RBI on 10 hits and a .778 slugging percentage. Kaili Phillips has two home runs, two doubles and seven RBI.
 
In the circle, Taylor Long recorded three wins over the weekend and has a team best 4.44 ERA and a 3-1 record. She has pitched 17.1 innings with 21 strikeouts. The Mocs combined for 50 strikeouts and an opponent .269 batting average.
 
Jacksonville State is 2-8 overall and went 1-4 last weekend at the Chattanooga Challenge beating Murray State 3-0 in the first meeting between the two teams.
 
The Gamecocks are batting .242 through 10 games with 20 multi-base hits including three home runs and 16 doubles. They have a 4.37 ERA with 54 strikeouts.
 
Morgan Nowakowski leads Jax State with a .367 batting average with five RBI on 11 hits. Emma Jones is batting .333 with three doubles, a triple and four RBI.
