ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
JOHNS ISLAND, S.C.---The 23rd-ranked Chattanooga Mocs head to the tee Monday for the Battle at Briar's Creek. The Mocs take on a 14-team field at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek on Johns Island, S.C.
"I'm really excited to get going," Coach
Blaine Woodruff shared on the way to the low country. "Might have been an all-time, 6-round Q school to set our lineup for this event. We saw all different kinds of weather. The competition was intense ending in a playoff for the final spot after 108 holes. Counting all 9 players over the final round, we shot 16 under as a team."
That lineup is the same five that competed in the 2023 NCAA Championships, nearly winning the Auburn Regionals along the way. It includes seniors
John Houk,
Samuel Espinosa and
Paul Conroy with juniors
Braedon Wear and
Garrett Engle.
"In reality, I wish we could take seven guys to this event because they deserve it," Woodruff added. "All this competing at home has our guys prepared and hungry for a great opportunity this week."
The 2-day, 54-hole event opens Monday with an 8:30 a.m., Eastern time, shotgun start playing 36 holes. The field tees off Tuesday for a final 18. The Mocs begin on holes 1-3 playing with Indiana and host College of Charleston.
