LAFAYETTE, La. --- The Chattanooga softball team fell 21-2 Thursday evening to #21 Louisiana in the season opener for both teams at the 38
th Annual Louisiana Classics.

Junior
Acelynn Sellers doubled to start off the third inning and advanced to third on a passed ball. Senior
Addy Keylon walked and stole second to put runners in scoring position. With one out, freshman Abi Pikas hit back to the pitcher, reaching on a fielder's choice, and Sellers was thrown out at home trying to score.

Kaili Phillips was hit by a pitch in the next at bat to load the bases. Sophomore transfer Bailiegh Pitts was patient at the plate with two outs and drew four straight balls to plate the Mocs first run of the night.

The Mocs added a second run in the fifth on a single down the right field line off the bat of
Olivia Lipari. Her hit drove in junior transfer
Camryn Cernuto from second and send
Kaili Phillips to third with two outs.

Kailey Snell led off the fourth with a single and stole second but was stranded on the base for the Mocs fourth hit of the night.

Louisiana put up eight runs in the first, added five more in the second and three in the third while scoring five in the bottom of the fourth on 13 hits.

Four of Chattanooga's pitchers made an appearance in the game with
Alyssa Lavdis drawing the start and getting the loss.
