CONWAY, Ark. --- Chattanooga recorded its fourth shutout of the season with a 5-0 win at Central Arkansas Friday evening at Farris Field in Conway, Ark., on Day One of the Adam Brown Memorial Shamrock Classic.
Taylor Long pitched seven shutout innings, allowed one hit and struck out eight in her sixth win of the season. She sat down all three in the third and fifth while stranding one runner in the fourth.
Baileigh Pitts went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the designated player.
Anna Dovey reached on an error and drove in another run for Chattanooga. Forsythe was 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Addy Keylon was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Chattanooga got the scoring started in the second on a throwing error. Forsythe started the inning with a double to center and took third on a single off the bat off Pitts. A throwing error by the catcher to second sent Forsythe home to make it 1-0.
Olivia Lipari started the third with an infield hit to the shortstop. Forsythe singled through the left side and Pitts doubled to left center, scoring Lipari and Forsythe making it a three-run game.
Back-to-back singles by
Addy Keylon and Abi Pikas set up a
Kailey Snell sac bunt to put the runners in scoring position. Dovey came in to pinch hit and her shot to right center was in and out of the fielder's glove for an error, a sac fly and scoring two.
With two on and one out in the seventh, the Mocs turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
Forsythe, Pitts and
Jayce Purdy each had a double, Keylon recorded a stolen base and Dovey had a sacrifice fly.
Chattanooga improves to 10-7 overall and will take on St. Francis Saturday at Noon eastern time. The link for live stats is available on the softball schedule at GoMocs.com.

Taylor Long leads the SoCon in strikeouts and is 44
th in the NCAA. She added eight tonight. She ranks 28
th in strikeouts per game (9.4).
