MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. --- Chattanooga came away with a pair of victories Friday on Day One of The Spring Games at Madeira Beach, Fla. UTC shut out Troy 6-0 in the opener and held off Columbia 5-4 in the second game.

The Mocs hit .277 Friday with 13 hits, including six doubles and a home run.
Baileigh Pitts was 3-for-6 (.500) with a home run and double and four RBI. She had a 1.167 slugging percentage and scored three runs.
Olivia Lipari was 2-for-4 with two RBI and
Jayce Purdy drove in a pair.

Taylor Long struck out nine for her eighth win of the season and earned a complete-game shutout Friday morning at ROC Park in Madeira Beach, Fla.

Olivia Lipari got the Mocs on the board first with a sac fly to left field scoring
Kailey Snell. In the fourth
Kaili Phillips' sac fly to center scored UTC's second run. With one out in the frame, Lipari walked and advanced to third on a double from
Kendall Forsythe. Phillips' sacrifice to center plated Lipari and
Baileigh Pitts' two-run homer made it 4-0 in favor of the Mocs through four innings.

Chattanooga added a pair of runs in the sixth and a play at the plate ended the game in the top of the seventh.

Phillips led off the sixth with a double down the line into left field. Pitts followed with a double of her own to drive in Phillips and then stole third.
Jayce Purdy drove the Pitts for the Mocs sixth run with a sac fly to left field.

Troy opened the seventh with a walk. A single to right with one out put runners at first and second. The Trojans singled deep to center and the runner on second tried to stretch it two bases and was thrown out by
Camryn Cernuto from centerfield to Purdy at the plate for the final out.

Pitts was 2-for-3 with a double and home run and drove in three.

CHATTANOOGA 5, COLUMBIA 4
Chattanooga held off a seventh inning push by Columbia to win its sixth straight game 5-4 Friday afternoon.
Â
The Lions, down by two, led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run to cut Chattanooga's lead to one, but the Mocs shut down the effort for the win.
Riley Lamb, on in relief, struck out the next batter and the final two grounded out, picking up her first win.

Kaili Phillips led off the second with a double to left center and
Baileigh Pitts reached on a fielding error to put the runners at the corners. She stole second and
Jayce Purdy walked to load the bases. After two outs,
Kailey Snell was hit by a pitch and scored Pitts for UTC's first run of the game.

UTC added two runs in the third on three hits and an error. Back-to-back singles by
Olivia Lipari and
Kendall Forsythe started the innings. Phillips reached on a fielding error on a deep shot to left to load the bases.

Pitts drove a single up the middle to score Lipari from third. Phillips added another run on a ground out to the shortstop and UTC led 3-1 through three innings.

Abby Orr opened the fourth with a walk and stole second. Lipari doubled to left center, driving home Orr for the Mocs fourth run of the game.

With a 4-3 lead, UTC added its fifth run in the fifth inning. Pitts led off the inning with a walk and
Zoe Wright came in to run. She took second on a wild pitch and Purdy walked.
Addy Keylon's sac bunt moved up both runners and Orr singled to left field, sending Wright home.

The Lions loaded the bases in the fifth with two outs, but the inning came to an end on a ground out to Phillips at third. A lead off home run for Columbia in the bottom of the seventh cut the Mocs lead to one, but UTC got the next three outs to end the game.

Lipari was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Phillips was 1-for-3 with a double. Five Mocs had RBIs in the game on seven hits. Lamb pitched 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and one earned run.
