CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga distance runner Lesley Boyd was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
 
Boyd is an MBA candidate and carries a 4.0 grade point average. She earned her undergraduate degree in management in the spring of 2023, graduating with honors.
 
In the fall, she earned all-region honors with a 22^nd place finish at the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships and was named All-Conference First Team, placing third at the Southern Conference Championship. She recorded personal best times in both the 6-kilometer (NCAA) and 5-kilometer (SoCon) distances.
 
In the indoor track and field season, the Dayton, Tenn., native earned back-to-back All-Conference honors with a second place finish in the 3000 meter and recorded a PR in the 5000 meter with a second finish. At the Music City Challenge in February, Boyd broke the program record in the 3000 meter run by more than nine seconds set in 2006 by All-American Shannon Wommack.

Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. All other championship sports are eligible through the At-Large program.

Stand alone contests for each sport are conducted in all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA. A single At-Large program is available for the College Division.

Legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg was named the national spokesperson for the program in 1986 and he served in that role until his passing in 2017.
