Quick Recap: The Chattanooga Mocs made the 40-minute drive up the road to Cleveland, Tenn., to take on VMI in the Jones Wrestling Center at Cleveland High School. It was a dominant start at 125 with a tech fall at 125 and continued through to the exclamation point with a fall at 184.

First Thought: "We knew that they were going to be the type of team that you have to secure the takedowns and not just expect to get them. We did a good job with that, and what I saw guys do is look for bonus points when we could find them. We let a couple get away, but we were in there looking to score. Those bonus points are needed come March, because that conference tournament is going to be really close, and it's going to come down to whoever can win those. It's important." – Coach
Kyle Ruschell

First Takedown
- Ty Tice got it started the right way with a takedown and two 3-point near falls in the opening three minutes. He started down in the second, escaped and completed the tech fall with a second takedown and two more back points for the 15-0 win.
- Blake Boarman's win at 133 avenged a loss to Dyson Dunham in last year's dual. Boarman got the first takedown in the second period and had a late 4-3 lead before securing a second takedown before the final buzzer for the 7-3 decision.
- Eli Knight got the first of two major decisions with a blitz in the third period. He led 3-0 after one and rode out Wayne Rold in the second. A reverse got him to 5-0 before he allowed Rold an escape to go after bonus points. He secured another takedown and got the major decision with the riding time bonus.
- Dayne Dalrymple and Patrick Jordon went into extra time at 149. Neither could complete a takedown over seven minutes with two escapes sending it to extra periods. Jordan survived in the end with an escape for a 2-1 win.
- Noah Castillo got the Mocs second major with a 10-1 dominant performance. He record two takedowns and a near fall while allowing an escape late to build the major decision.
- Jackson Hurst narrowly missed a major with an 11-4 triumph over Ryan Virgil. It started out with a busy first period for a 7-2 lead with a takedown and near fall before giving up a reverse. The second featured just a Hurst escape before closing out the third with another takedown.
- Sergio Desiante clinched the team win while just missing a tech fall. He earned four takedowns and two stall points to go with riding time but couldn't complete the fifth takedown to get a second bonus tally.
- The feature bout was expected at 184 but VMI chose not to put Braxton Lewis on the mat choosing Ethan Flowers instead. Kamdyn Munro dispatched Flowers in just 34 seconds.
- The Keydets got a tech fall at 197 and a narrow decision at 285 to close out the dual.

Final Thoughts
"I don't really think when I wrestle. I just saw an opening, and I took it. I saw his head was close to his knee, and I was like shoot, I gotta get that. Then I just slapped on the cradle and then rest is history." – Munro on getting the fall at 184
Â
"We knew what that guy's doing. He's got one really good attack that we tried to avoid and stay away from that position a little bit. Ultimately, Blake's lateral movements were hard to follow. Blake had the opportunity to find those positions and get to it. Then, just like I said about their whole team but him specifically, you gotta plant him and secure the takedown because he'll keep fighting all the way through it." – Ruschell on the Boarman battle at 133
