CHATTANOOGA (October 20, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team and its eight representatives turned in an impressive performance at last weekend's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championship hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
 
Chattanooga's double team of Rufaro Magarira and Addison Iacono, both in their first competitive season with the Mocs, reached the main draw round of 16 after posting victories over duos from Cincinnati (R64) and Xavier (R32). The tandem bowed out with a tough 8-4 defeat to Mia Yamakita and Erin Pearce of SEC-member Vanderbilt.
 
The run to the final 16 in the doubles main draw matches is the longest for a UTC duo at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional since Caroline Gibbens and Jesse Young reached the round of 16 in 2022.
 
In singles action, four Mocs earned opening round qualifying victories before the trio of Iacono, Magarira and Zara Burns ultimately earned spots in the main draw with second round wins. Iacono posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in the main draw round of 64 before exiting after a tightly-played 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 defeat to Catherine Auila of Tennessee.

Chattanooga returns home this weekend to host the UTC Steve Baras Invite in conjunction with the men's program. The event runs from Friday, October 24 through October 26 at nearby Champions Club in the Rivermont area of town. About the ITA Regional
The regionalized annual event carries automatic entries into the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships with the two singles finalists from each region (26) earning qualification status. Meanwhile, the doubles champion from each region (13) will also qualify for the NCAA Championships.
