Mocs Set for NCAA Cross Country Region Championships Friday

| By:
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs men's and women's cross country teams are headed to Huntsville, Ala., to compete in the NCAA South Region Championships Friday morning at John Hunt Park. Both squads enter the meet riding a wave of momentum after strong showings at the Southern Conference Championships and are eager to test themselves against the best in the region.

Maddie Wheatcroft earned All-Conference First Team honors at the Southern Conference Championship, placing fourth overall and leading the women to a third place finish. Leah Boyd Mitchell also earned All-Conference honors finishing 13th overall for a spot on the Second Team.

In the men's race, Jack Martin placed eighth overall, pacing the men to a fourth place finish and was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Derek Mitchell finished 16th, just out of all-conference contention.

"We're familiar with the course and excited to see how we stack up against the rest of the region," said head coach Steve Picucci. "Our athletes have worked hard all season, and we know they'll leave it all out on the course—that's all we can ask for."

The Mocs competed in the Southern Showcase on September 12 at John Hunt Park that served as a preview for this week's championships.
