ATLANTA, Ga. --- The Chattanooga Mocs outdoor track and field team had a strong first day of competition at the Emory Thrills in the Hills with an event victory and multiple personal bests.

Freshman
Halle Carden won the high jump with a leap of 5'-six inches. She nailed her first two and fourth jumps on the first try, and with the title in hand, passed on her personal best height of 1.71 to attempt the 1.73 meter mark. Despite being unable to clear the height, she was the only to make the 1.68 meter mark for the title.

Norah Haney finished fourth in the javelin with a personal best distance of 35.69 meters (117-feet, one inch). She finished a little more than 10 feet behind the winner and nearly a foot and a half behind third.

Carden took eighth in her first triple jump with a distance of 11.11 meters (36' 5.50"). However,
Stella Henry, returning to the runway, placed fourth at 11.72 meters (38' 5.50"), making a play for the program record set in 2001 by Tylena Hanner at 40-09.00.

On the track,
Bella King and
Aubrey Park broke their own personal records. King finished seventh in the 1500 meter invitational with a time of 4:47.65. Teammates
Maya McCloskey (4:55.71) and
Anna Roberson (5:00.07) ran the distance for the first time, both placing in the Top 20.

Park outpaced her previous best time in the 5000 meter finishing 10
th with a time of 18:11.96.
Scarlett Nash placed 21
st with a time of 18:42.03 and
Lauren Bayes turned in a time of 20:39.54. It was the first race for both at the 5000 meter distance.

Saturday's events get started at 11:50 a.m. with the 3000 meter while the field events get going at 12:30 p.m. for the Mocs with the long jump.

RALEIGH, N.C. ---
Ryleigh Simmons ran against much stronger competition Friday in the 100 meter dash, posting a time of 12.25 in the race. She will test herself again on Saturday with the 200 meter dash.

Maddie Wheatcroft flirted with her personal best time, covering the 1500 meter distance in a time of 4:31.98.
