RECAP: Mocs Fight in Loss to 4th-Ranked Ohio State

Billy Meiszner’s major decision led the Chattanooga Mocs against the fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in the Roundhouse Sunday afternoon.

The Chattanooga Mocs hosted national contender Ohio State for a Sunday matinee dual in McKenzie Arena. The Mocs battled toe-to-toe with a lineup covered in top 15 talent but fell 42-4.

The Breakdown
  • Match started with a barnburner. 19th-ranked Brendan McCrone got a takedown on Ty Tice at 125 which Tice reversed for a 3-2 deficit. That lasted through to the third where Tice cut McCrone early in the third looking for a takedown. He had a deep shot late in the third that couldn't be finished before time expired in the decision.
  • Billy Meiszner was the major highlight for the Mocs. He completed a 10-1 major decision with a takedown before time expired. It was one of three in the bout for him.
  • True freshman Kade Rule showed impressive fight in his first career dual against No. 11 Luke Geog. He trailed 15-3 late in the second period before a takedown cut the deficit to 15-6. He then worked his opponent with two more takedowns and was working on a third when time expired in a 16-12 loss.
  • The Buckeyes had a fall and six tech falls in the other seven matches.
